ERSKINE CLUBHOUSE

DETAILS
In 2017, the Venues Parks and Arts Department of South Bend City commissioned Kil Architecture to investigate whether they should renovate or demolish and build a new Erskine Clubhouse. After concluding that renovation was the better choice, the team was hired to create a new design for the building. The clubhouse was constructed in the late 1800s as a bank barn made of heavy timber on a fieldstone foundation. Kil’s renovation involved updating the finishes, mechanical systems, building a new golf pro shop and concession stand, and redesigning the original event space.

Focusing on interaction with the golf course and patron amenities, Kil Architecture worked closely with Tonn and Blank Construction, the design-build lead, to deliver a thoughtful design. Updated finishes, additional bar and kitchen spaces, new golf simulators and flex rooms, accessibility upgrades, and a revitalized outdoor terrace comprised most of the work for this project.
