HARTFORD LIBRARY
DETAILS
Kil Architecture designed the Art & Bonna Vanderlyn Community Center and Hartford Public Library to accommodate the various needs of the village and town constituencies. The community room seats 700 people and the county’s Genealogical Society can store historic records in a fire-resistant room which can be accessed while the library is closed.  A large gas fireplace provides a warm reading nook in the vaulted stack room and needed online access is provided in the computer room.  The building is sited to encourage pedestrian access from the village streets while providing ample parking.  The low-key building masses and sloped roofs fit easily into the park and surrounding residential settings.

Focusing on interaction with the golf course and patron amenities, Kil Architecture worked closely with Tonn and Blank Construction, the design-build lead, to deliver a thoughtful design. Updated finishes, additional bar and kitchen spaces, new golf simulators and flex rooms, accessibility upgrades, and a revitalized outdoor terrace comprised most of the work for this project.
