KENTUCKY RICKHOUSES
DETAILS
As part of a multi-disciplinary team across several states, Kil Architecture contributed to the design of these prototype structures. Rickhouses, named after the storage module ‘rick’, are specially designed buildings to house barrels of spirits during the aging process and are traditionally constructed with wood framing. Marking the firm’s first projects in Kentucky, these modular steel rack-supported rickhouses are the first of their kind in the world with a structural system designed and tested in South Bend.

Focusing on interaction with the golf course and patron amenities, Kil Architecture worked closely with Tonn and Blank Construction, the design-build lead, to deliver a thoughtful design. Updated finishes, additional bar and kitchen spaces, new golf simulators and flex rooms, accessibility upgrades, and a revitalized outdoor terrace comprised most of the work for this project.
